Your title, name, postal address, risk address, gender, current and or previous occupation, date of birth, children’s data where the child is under 16 (only for travel insurance policies)

This is information that we may gather from you that might reveal your racial or ethnic origin, your health and medical information, criminal history.  This data will include but may not be limited to: –

Your title, gender, physical or medical conditions, driving licence origin, length of residency in the UK.

Information relating to our website is collected using cookies. A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computers hard drive.  We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes.  A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you.  You can choose to accept or decline cookies.

Using your personal data

Why we collect your data? The primary lawful basis on which we will process your data is for the performance or our contract with you.  The information that we collect about you is essential for us to be able to carry out the services that you require from us effectively.  Without collecting your personal data, we would be unable to fulfil our legal and regulatory obligations and may not be able to offer you appropriate insurance.  With your consent, we may also collect this information to inform you of products or services that may better meet your needs.
How we collect information about you? We will collect information about you over the phone, by post, email or in person.
Who we share our information with? As a Data Controller we may share your details with third parties such as those that we engage for professional compliance, accountancy or legal services.  We will also share your details with underwriters, our financial crime sanctions checking service, and where required loss adjusters, claims handlers and the Finance company we use to run our direct debit payment service.  We never share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Consent and Marketing With your explicit consent, we would like to send you information about new products and services.  Before we do this, we will seek your permission to collect and store your data for this purpose.  If later, you decide to withdraw your consent, then you may opt out by emailing
How do we store your information and keep it secure? Your data is stored in secure servers with restricted access.  Access to your data is only possible through password protected software.
How long do we store your data for? We will retain your personal data for as long as your Insurance Policy is valid with us, and in principle your personal data should not be held for longer than is required under the terms of our contract for services with you.  However, we are subject to regulatory requirements to retain certain data for specified minimum periods.

You have the right to request deletion of your personal data.  We will comply with your request subject to the restrictions stated in this privacy policy.

Your rights under General Data Protection Regulations include the following

Right of Access You have the right to access your personal data and supplementary information.  This will be provided free of charge and within one month of Robert Butler Tamworth Ltd receiving your request.  Any further copies will only be provided after settlement of a £10 administration fee.
Right to Rectification You have the right to have personal data rectified if the data is inaccurate and/or incomplete.  Such requests will be dealt with within one month.  This may be extended to two months for complex cases.
Right to Erasure (Right to be forgotten) You have the right to request the deletion/removal of your personal data where there is no compelling reason for its continued processing.
